Housing Options Scotland continues to grow rapidly! Please welcome Sarah who has joined us as our new Resources Manager. Learn more about Sarah below:

Tell me a bit about yourself – what’s your background?

Hi, I’m Sarah! My background is quite varied, I have worked in a lot of different roles – Recruitment, Sales and Marketing Administration, Operations Support and I’ve done some Engagement as well. I’ve also got a degree in Social Sciences, specialising in Sociology and Criminology. I think my experience will be good for this new role as I can bring a lot of different things to the table, especially since it’s a new position in the organisation.

What’s your role at Housing Options Scotland – can you tell me a bit about what you’ll be working on?

My job title is Resources Manager, so am responsible for managing the initial client communication, just making sure that all requests are dealt with efficiently for the cases to be assigned to the brokers. But I will also be managing all of the internal resources, helping to streamline the processes and assisting the team with anything that they might need help with. I kind of look at my role as someone here to help the organisation be the best that it can be! Obviously, as the organisation grows, it’s good to have just one person managing all of these little things, so that’s what I’m here for.

What’s the most enjoyable/rewarding part of your job?

I would say working as part of a team that is doing so much good within communities across Scotland. For me, that was a big factor in taking the job in the first place. I think the overall aims of the charity align to what I believe in as well, so that is and will be the most rewarding part of the job. Within the role, obviously there will also be a lot of enjoyment out of helping the team.

Outside of work, what sorts of things do you get up to?

The rest of the team seem very into activities like paddle boarding and canoeing…I love to travel in Scotland, and obviously abroad as well when we’re permitted to do so, but I really like going out to different places in Scotland and going out walking or climbing Munros. [I: Oh yes, you will fit right in.] I also like to do yoga and have recently taken up running which is quite good and which I’ve never been into before. So overall, fairly active as a person but I also enjoy going out for a nice meal or staying home with a good book or watching a good film, so a bit of a variety of things!
