Today, Housing Options Scotland (HOS) launch their report on how Scottish housing allocations policies support Service leavers and Veterans. Gina Wilson, Volunteer Development Worker for the Military Matters service at HOS undertook the research to find out what provision housing policies make for veterans, if any.
Gina is an REME veteran and looked for help herself to find a suitable home when leaving the forces. She was supported by HOS to do this, before she began working with the charity from 2020 on their veterans volunteer programme.
The research, which covered all housing associations in Scotland, found a varying degree of support mentioned in their policies and lays out several recommendations for improvements.
