Here at HOS, our brokerage team works extremely hard to offer the best advice and support they can to our clients. That support comes in many forms, and the advice we give is different for every household. The following is a round-up of just some of the many ways our clients have presented to us over the past few weeks, and what we’ve been doing to help them.
Erin supported a veteran client who needed to move after their marriage ended. Erin advised the client on a range of housing options including the private rented sector and mid market rent. They also discussed the process of presenting as homeless to a local authority. As the client was a veteran, Erin signposted them to veteran-specific housing options, such as Erskine and Scottish Veterans Residences. The client chose to look into this option further and is currently in the process of securing assisted living accommodation with a veteran’s charity. They were very grateful for Erin’s support –
“I’m feeling quite good and positive (that’s not normally the case). Once again I’m really thankful for your help and advice, and the follow up.”
Tessa advised a client who wanted to move into sheltered accommodation. After some guidance and support, the client was offered and accepted a property. The client and their family were very happy with this result –
“We are both shocked and delighted. Truly blessed. Many thanks for your invaluable help.”
Eve and Olivia helped a client who was living with family after fleeing domestic violence. They wanted to settle into a property of their own with their children. The client had made a homeless application and was applying to different housing associations. Eve referred the client to an Independent Financial Advisor who was able to help them secure a mortgage in principle. However, none of the offers they put in were accepted. So, the client decided to look at the private rented sector to gain some breathing space. After moving into a rental property, Olivia advised them on where to go for a benefits check. The client is going to get back in touch when they are in a position to look at buying again.
It can be difficult to navigate your housing options alone. Our Housing Options Brokers are here to help and offer free, individualised support and advice. Get in touch or fill out one of our Get Help forms if you need guidance.
