“Thank you for helping me. It meant the world knowing I could get help and I wasn’t alone”
This was written to Jil by one of her clients and it makes me very happy indeed because it sums up exactly what we do and more importantly, how we do it.
Nearly 10 years ago, I was very fortunate to have successful life enhancing cataract surgery courtesy of our marvellous NHS. The first eye was operated on at a brand new fancy dan hospital. The surroundings were shiny and the facilities and care were first class. Everything went very well.
The second surgery took place at a hospital that was pretty run down. I was the last patient of the day because my notes had been lost in transit. All the staff stayed on until my notes are traced and my surgery commenced. If you have never had cataract surgery, it is a bit of an out of body experience. You can’t see (obviously), but I could feel someone holding my hand throughout the operation. I found this so comforting. When I asked afterwards, I was told ” We always hold your hand at xx hospital “.
So there you have it. The handholding was reassuring and cost nothing. This is very much how we do things at HOS. We don’t have much money and we don’t have any houses, but we will hold your hand (literally and metaphorically) through your housing journey.
If you would like a handhold, please get in touch. We would be delighted to help you find “the right home, in the right place”.
